I’m calling bullshit. A driver’s attitude towards cyclists isn’t something to fuck around about. If that was satire, it was weak, if it was serious it was even weaker.

But until you have some SUV driver clip you with her mirror because you were, “in the middle of the road” or, “not on the sidewalk where you belong,” you’re clueless as to the real ignorance of a person who would prefer to endanger another human being’s life rather than slow down a little or change lanes.

Cyclists are committing crimes, but I’ve yet to see any data showing that it has an effect on the safety of other road user groups. If such data exists I suggest it be widely publicized and used to justify spending more tax dollars to “police” the streets.

I don’t care about convenience issues or time delays that might be incurred by sharing the road with cyclists. Transportation is problematic. More cars on the road will have a larger impact on traffic delays that more bikes.

Just like wine, Gary is an acquired taste. While he’s got a big mouth, he does say some very important things. I just encourage people to look past the language and the ego, and just listen to what he says.

It’s all about readability. Portable devices are great, like the iPhone, but who wants to stare at a mini screen when we stare at screens all day long in this digital age! Kindle may need some improvements, but it is an outstanding product, and wins hands down against the iPhone if you want a great reading experience!
